To me fitness should be used as a celebration of our bodies and their capabilities rather than a cyclical pattern of conditioning and comparison.

Originally, gym culture was started by body builders, that’s why there’s the idea that we should split into chest days, leg days etc. But the thing is, unless you have body building as a goal, this is not a natural way to strengthen your body. The gym is a manmade environment, and although it makes you work hard and gives you a place to focus on your workout, it also means that the effects of it are manmade and the limiting factor is often your build and genetics.

The way I see fitness, your body shouldn’t be the limiting factor. We are all creatures of this Earth, and when you look at how animals move and flow and improve themselves, they aren’t working muscles in isolation. They use every day as a new challenge, a new movement pattern. As humans, we need to reconnect to our body through movement challenges. We need to revert back to our primal being and be running, stretching, jumping, bending and working through different planes of motion. Workouts with me will be based in a private gym, interspersed with outdoor settings, with a range of equipment that will keep both you and your body inspired to move.

We are now beginning to understand the body from a medical and physiological point of view more than ever, and the more research that comes out, the more the information points towards functional and flowing movement. Thankfully, the fitness world is definitely evolving to see exercise as movement rather than as body sculpting and isolated strength, and gyms are slowly being filled with alternative modalities other than dumbbells and resistance machines.

Moving your body will always come with the positive side effects of looking and feeling good, there's no complaining about that, but I also truly believe that if you're moving and challenging your body as nature intended, then your body will work with you to sculpt and strengthen you in the way that nature intended you to be. The more we reconnect with our bodies, and remember the power that lies within, the stronger we will become in our sense of self. Exercise and movement isn't just about getting physically strong, its about reclaiming your inner power.

I believe in movement. I believe in holistic health. I believe in empowerment. And I believe that you can become the optimum version of yourself through enhancing these things. Its time to reconnect to your body.
